Tolson Museum is a treasure trove of curiosities and fascinating finds. Housed in a stunning Victorian mansion and set in the beautiful grounds of Ravensknowle Park, the museum makes for a great day out for all the family. Galleries with artefacts dating from Roman times to the present day tell tales of Huddersfield’s fascinating cultural and industrial heritage. The world class collections include local archaeology, rare historic cars and carriages, weaving and spinning machinery, artefacts related to the Luddite rebellion and the Bird Room – an incredible exhibition which is over 100 years’ old! A children’s activity corner, dressing up box and interactive exhibits bring history to life for younger visitors. Ravensknowle Park, the museum’s beautiful and spacious grounds are a great place for children to let off steam with a playground, areas for games and spaces for picnics.
