The Lawrence Batley Theatre is a much loved local institution and the home of live performances in Huddersfield. Opened in 1994, the stunning Grade II listed building was transformed from a former Methodist chapel into a gem of a theatre. Today it offers audiences a varied and diverse programme of performances from drama, dance, music and musicals to circus acts and some of the best comedy around. Children are well catered for too with regular child-friendly shows. Don’t miss the popular annual pantomime of which the theatre is rightly proud. The theatre is a beautiful place to visit in its own right and was recently featured as a location in the BBC’s very successful Gentleman Jack series. It has three performance spaces, and conference and meeting rooms are available for hire.
You can grab a drink before a show at the friendly Courtyard Café and Bar. It’s also open during the day and makes a great place to work with free Wi-Fi and great coffee.
