Huddersfield is a fantastic place to study and as you prepare to start your University life we’ve prepared a handy guide to the best student-friendly places and activities in the town.

Nightlife

The Parish

The Parish is the home of live music in Huddersfield with unique gigs and events every  week. Make sure you head down for the infamous Monday Quiz night and sample the tasty ‘Not Junk Food’ menu.

Warehouse

The Warehouse is the place to go to watch live sport in Huddersfield. Located in the heart of the student area it’s open from breakfast ’til the early hours with regular quizzes, retro-gaming and street food influenced menus.

Rhubarb

Rhurbarb is a cool, colourful and spacious bar located in the centre of Huddersfield known for it’s live music and eclectic playlists. You can also get some great home cooked food, served seven days a week, ranging from burgers and pizzas to Sunday dinners, all made fresh to order on the premises.

Rat and Ratchet

One for the ale enthuisiasts…The Rat and Ratchet has been part of Huddersfield’s real ale scene for many years, regularly winning awards from CAMRA and others. This friendly, recently refurbished pub hosts regular jazz, blues and Irish themed music nights, a weekly quiz and an ever changing beer lineup.

Magic Rock Brewery

Enjoy beers from Huddersfield’s world-renowned Magic Rock brewery at their very own tap room. A super cool venue with street food on weekends and awesome beers throughout the week. 

Camel Club

Huddersfield’s most popular club, the Camel Club has a few different nights across the week. Ranging from a night full of House music, to the 90’s night on Saturdays, all the way to the rock and metal night on Friday’s.

Coming soon… Brewdog

The original punk brewers BrewDog have announced they are set to open a bar in Huddersfield this autumn/winter. The bar will be just a stones throw from the uni, on Zetland Street, and promises “the best craft beer from BrewDog and friends, alongside an absolutely epic food menu from Reds True BBQ.”

Out and About

Greenhead Park has an impressive memorial, fountains, tennis courts, and loads of idyllic places to sit with friends or catch up on your reading. Beaumont is sometimes overlooked, but equally lovely. The ultimate viewpoint is Castle Hill, with views across all of Huddersfield and its surrounding countryside.

Cafes and Coffee shops

Coffevolution

Huddersfield’s original coffee shop, Coffevolution has a great range of drinks, sandwiches and sweet treats. A great place to sit with a book, look cool and enjoy some world class coffee.

The People’s Meeple 

The People’s Meeple is Huddersfield’s new board game cafe, with an extensive range of games and gorgeous food. It’s a great place to hang out!

Humpit Hummus

Humpit Hummus offer up a 100% vegan menu with middle eastern-style falafel, wraps and pittas. Healthy, tasty and affordable.

Northern Tea House

Northern Tea House describe themselves as “A modern industrial tea house with a hint of vintage”. Just a short walk from the uni this is a great place ro treat yourself to a quality tea or coffee and some tasty savoury treats.
